Obituary for Mabel Helen Turner

Mabel Helen  Turner
Mabel Helen Turner, 87, of Manassas, went home to be with the Lord on July 14, 2017.

Born April 15, 1930, in Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late William B. Creech and Stella Rosalie Gilbert Creech. On November 6, 1948 in Harlan, KY, she married Rev. Denver Turner, who preceded her in death on April 26, 2014.

Mrs. Turner held a Bachelor’s degree in Education and was a former school teacher. She was also a loving wife and mother to her eleven children, and along with her late husband, was one of the founding members of the First Bible Baptist Church in Manassas Park. For over 65 years, Rev. and Mrs. Turner dedicated their lives to their Lord and Savior, and helped many during their time of need.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Charles Turner. Survivors include four daughters, Helen Pickett of Kentucky; Margaret Russo and her husband Doug of Florida; Stella Philips and her husband Jeff of Sumerduck; Madeline Turner of Manassas; six sons, Melvin Turner of California; Fenton Turner of Manassas; Rev. John Turner and his wife Debbie of Gainesville; James Turner and his wife Michelle of Nokesville; Paul Turner of Manassas; David Turner and his wife Lalania of Ridgeway, South Carolina; 47 grandchildren; 76 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Bible Baptist Church, 206 Manassas Drive, Manassas Park, VA 20111.

Interment will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, VA.

Memorial contributions may take the form of a donation to the First Bible Baptist Church Mission Fund, P.O. Box 627, Manassas Park, VA 20111.
