9/17/1968-7/14/2017

On Friday, July 14, 2017, Shirley Jo Cook, age 48, of Manassas, VA, died at home surrounded by family. Born September 17, 1968 in Silver Spring, MD, she was the daughter of the late Robert Ray Walton and Carol Jean Viola Dodson.

On April 25, 1986 in Manassas, she married Robert Lee (Bob) Cook, who survives.
Mrs. Cook was a 1985 graduate of Brentsville District High School, Nokesville, VA. She loved spending time with her many family members and friends; time at the beach; listening to Country & Bluegrass music; attending bluegrass festivals; Ralph Stanley; and she loved to cook for her family.

Shirley is survived by her step father, Smokey Dodson, her husband of 31 years Robert (Bob) Lee Cook of Manassas; daughters, Nicole Jean Cook of Manassas; Brittany Lee Cook and fiancé Edward Lee Cottrill of Manassas; Natalie Jo Cook of Manassas; Granddaughters, Novalee Nicole Lariviere and Renesmee Lael Lariviere of Manassas; four angel grand babies; her sister, Bobbie Jo Walton and fiancé William D Smith of West Palm Beach, FL; Jeanie Dodson of Union Bridge, MD; her cousin/sister Denise Lynn McLaughlin & her husband Matthew D McLaughlin of Haymarket, VA; and she is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 20, 2017 from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas. A celebration of Shirley’s life will begin at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Vernon King, III officiating.

Interment will be private and take place at a later date.
