Obituary for Mary Virginia Hedrick

Mary Virginia  Hedrick
Virginia Hedrick of Manassas, VA, died peacefully on August 14, 2017 at her home.

Virginia grew up in Manassas and was raised by her parents, Michael and Yolanda Papa along with 4 brothers and one sister.

Virginia graduated from St. Patrick's high school, Richmond VA. She completed her bachelor’s degree at St. Agnes School of Nursing in Baltimore, MD in May, 1947.

Virginia worked as a registered nurse and unit supervisor at Prince William County Hospital in Manassas VA for 27 years. Virginia was a member of the United States Cadet Nursing Corps from 1943 to 1945. She has been a lifetime member of All Saints Catholic Church and volunteered with St. Vincent DePaul, Catholic Charities, Serve, Project Mend-a-House.

She received numerous awards and recognitions for her professional and volunteer services and to include being a part of the Prince William Nursing Education Committee and The National Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs.

In addition to her work, Virginia enjoyed reading, movies, travel, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her two sons, Richard Hedrick and daughter-in-law Galina Koval of Stuart, FL and Charles Hedrick and daughter-in-law Frances Hedrick of Gainesville VA, 2 granddaughters, Natalie Bello and husband Austin Bello of Bristow VA, Michelle Hedrick of Richmond VA, and one great grandson, Brayden Bello.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 17th, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas, VA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, August 18th, 2017 at All Saints Catholic Church, 9300 Stonewall Road, Manassas, VA.

Entombment will take place in Stonewall Memorial Gardens, 12004 Lee Highway, Manassas, VA following the service.

The Knights of Columbus will provide refreshments at their hall located adjacent to the All Saints Catholic Church after burial.
