Donald Lomis died peacefully at INOVA Fairfax Hospital on September 6, 2017 in Falls Church, VA at the age of 73.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Marian (Seng) Lomis of Fredericksburg, VA; children, Donald of Woodbridge, David of Culpepper, Deanna Teimouri of Nokesville, Darren of McLean, and Duane of Arlington; and 14 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Lomis Jr. and Julia (Horvath) Lomis of Jefferson Boro, PA, and elder brother, Gerald Lomis of McKeesport, PA.

Don was born on November 12, 1943 in McKeesport, PA to John Lomis Jr. and Julia (Horvath) Lomis. He married Marian Seng on June 19, 1965 in Turtle Creek, PA. After the birth of three children, Donald, David and Deanna, they moved to Arlington, VA in December, 1970. Over the next several years, the couple welcomed two additional children, Darren and Duane into their home. In 1998, Don and Marian moved to Manassas, VA.

After a thirty-year career as a meat cutter, Don retired and began driving a special needs school bus for Prince William County Schools in Virginia. Eleven years later, he fully retired in June, 2017. Don and Marian moved to Fredericksburg, VA. His children remember him as a dedicated husband and father who deeply loved and cared for his family. In his children, he instilled a fervent devotion to family and friends, a passionate work ethic, and a strong moral compass.

Don was a dedicated sports fan and was passionate about his home teams, The Washington Nationals, The Washington Redskins, and The Washington Capitals. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus for more than 50 years where he achieved the title of Fourth Degree Sir Knight with the Bishop J. Louis Flaherty Assembly. Don regularly led the third decade of the Rosary at monthly Knights of Columbus council meetings. He, also, deeply enjoyed the comradery of league bowling with his fellow Knights for over 40 years. He was an active and dedicated member of the Catholic Church for 52 years.

Family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00pm and 6:00 to 8:00pm on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Rd., Manassas, VA 20110.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at All Saints Catholic Church, 9300 Stonewall Rd., Manassas, VA 20110, with Father Noah Morey officiating.
A reception will follow at Knights of Columbus, 9290 Stonewall Rd., Manassas, VA 20110.

The interment is scheduled for 11:00am on Friday, September 15, 2017 at National Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Don's life.
