Condolences

Condolence From: Chuck Newell
Condolence: I am very sad to hear of Rich's passing. I attended St. John High School with Rich and his brother Michael. Rich had a good sense of humor and was like a big brother to me there. My sympathy to his family.

Condolence: I will always remember Richard as a kind man and a gentle soul who loved to bring laughter to those around him. I pray that love and light will guide his family and friends through this great loss.

Condolence From: Scott Ringstad
Condolence: I can't believe this. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this sad time. We were 18 years old and freshman roomates at Saint Vincent in 1976. We had just met and I asked him "So what do you go by? Rich, Richard, Dick?" And his response still makes me chuckle to this day. Rich said, "My friends call me Riff Raff." Rest In Peace, old friend.

An important part of the story is that he was smoking his pipe while answering me. I can recognize two kinds of pipe tobacco. My Dad smoked 'Half and Half' and Rich smoked 'Captain Black' and I still know them to this day.
