Shirley R. Klostermeyer, age 79, passed away December 3, 2017 peacefully in her sleep in Dumfries, Virginia ending the long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born December 24, 1937 in Grand Island, Nebraska, Shirley was just “Shy” of her 80th birthday.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, John and Edith Anderson; her loving husband of 52 years, William C. Klostermeyer; and son in law Sean Shea. Surviving are their three children: son, Mark Klostermeyer of Dumfries, Virginia; daughter, Kelly Shea of Dumfries, Virginia; and daughter, Tammi Klaco and her husband, Paul, with their son and only grandchild, Collin, of Manassas, Virginia. Also surviving is her brother, Ronald Anderson along with brother in laws, sister in laws and many loving nieces and nephews.
Bill and Shirley moved to Springfield, Virginia in 1968 where they raised their family. Shirley, a self-taught artist, painted out of her home and conducted many art shows of her work as she also inspired many young artists by teaching art lessons. Always sharing her talents and her eye for design within the community and Church, Shirley expanded her creativity with her own business, Design Frames, in Falls Church, Virginia. Retiring in 1996 after expanding the business for over 17 years, Bill and Shirley later moved to Dumfries, Virginia where they enjoyed their time together enjoying their home, family and friends.
In Celebration of her life, the family will have a “Birthday Celebration Open Reception” on December 24, 2017 from 12:00 to 4:00 pm at Design Frames, 711 West Broad Street, Falls Church, Virginia 22046.
