Obituary for Richard Thomas Crosby

Richard Thomas Crosby, 76, of Manassas, passed away December 24, 2017 in Luray after a lengthy illness.

Born May 29, 1941 in Annapolis, MD, he was the son of the late James Albert Crosby, and the Late Mildred Clementine Smith. On December 8, 1963, he married RuthAnne Napier of Davidsonville, MD. They were happily wed for 49 years until her death on March 8, 2012.

Richard was an engineer for George Washington University Hospital and the Lisner Louise Dickson-Hurt Home in Washington, D.C. After his retirement he worked for the Home Depot in Fairfax, Va.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Douglas & Ernest Crosby. Survivors include his three daughters, Connie Patricia Hunt and her husband David of Manassas; CherylAnne Crosby and her husband Kenny Pitts of Fairfax; Christina Hope Rigsbee and her husband Bobby of Luray; one sister, Helen Brammer and her husband Sam of Tennessee; one brother, Albert Crosby and his wife Pat of Maryland; seven grandchildren, Brittany Carter, Christopher Rigsbee, Weston Carter, Karla Hunt, Grayson Pitts, Peyton Rigsbee, Crystal Thomas; and one great-grandson, Malachi Winfield. His memory will continue to live on as well with many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will welcome family and friends on Saturday, December 30, 2017 from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas. A celebration of Richard’s amazing life will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Todd Tennant officiating.

Private interment will take place at a later date.

Memorial contributions may take the form of a donation to the American Cancer Society, 124 Park St. SE, Vienna, VA 22180; or to the Prince William County Animal Shelter, 14807 Bristow Rd, Manassas, VA 20112.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, under the direction of Michael Post.
