Donald Gene  Perdue
Donald Gene Perdue, age 79, passed away peacefully at his home in Manassas, Virginia on January 3, 2018.

Don was born August 3, 1938 in Grundy, Virginia and was the son of the late Cora and Charles Perdue. On December 23, 1959 he married Corena Matney of Patterson, Virginia. They were married for 16 years until her death on September 26, 1976.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 39 years Irma Perdue of Manassas, Virginia, son Bryan Perdue and wife Michelle of Leesburg, Virginia, son Rodney Perdue and wife Debbie of Jacksonville, Florida, daughter Donna Sue Kachmarchi and husband Jeff of Sellersville, Pennsylvania, daughter Katherine Perdue of Manassas, Virginia, sister Charlotte Rowe of Manassas Park, Virginia, and sister Peggy Charles and husband Willy of Oakwood, Virginia. Don is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Corena, Ryan, Juliana, Brittany, Jennifer, Deborah, Trevor, Heather, Melanie, 15 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother Roger Perdue, sister Eileen Fleming, and grandson Charles.

Don grew up in Oakwood, Virginia and was a meat cutter for the Fort Belvoir commissary until his retirement. Don also worked part-time as a cashier for Grand Union grocery store and for a number of years worked both full-time and part-time jobs to provide for his family. He was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins, country and bluegrass music, and enjoyed working tirelessly in his garden. Don played baseball for a number of years and as a knuckleball pitcher was invited to attend the Detroit Tigers spring training in Lakeland, Florida in the late 1950's. He enjoyed helping others and his kind and outgoing personality resulted in friends wherever his travels took him.

The family will receive friends from 1-3 pm on Sunday, January 7, 2017 at the Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 8. Interment will immediately follow in Stonewall Memory Gardens, 12004 Lee Highway Manassas, Virginia.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of a donation of kindness to Don's wife Irma Perdue.
