Joyce Felicia Murphy was called home January 16th, 2018. She was born December 29th 1939 in Washington D.C to the late Herman Crabbe and Helen Payne.

She attended Luther Jackson High School in Falls Church, VA. August 29th, 1990 she joined Yeshua Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Pastor Tony H. Campbell. She served the church faithfully and was head of the Mother’s Board.

Joyce was a devoted wife to Herbert Murphy for 59 years and from this union 7 children were born. She was then blessed with 22 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Mom was a lady of grace, a lady of great faith. Her kindness and love spread far and she would open her arms and heart to anyone that needed her. She had a way of making you feel as though everything was alright when you thought it was all falling apart. Her compassion, wisdom and knowledge were endless and she gave of them freely. What she enjoyed most was spending time with family, especially her grand and great grandkids, they brought her so much joy…all 37 of them. She was truly a blessed woman and in turn, many were blessed by her.

Mom was preceded in death by her father, Herman Crabbe, mother, Helen Payne, stepfather William (Sonny) Payne, sister, Shirley Crabbe, sister Carol (Missy) Williams, brother, Herman (Butch) Crabbe Jr., brother, William (Billy) Payne and brother, Henry Payne.

She leaves to mourn in her passing, her husband, Herbert Murphy of Bristow, VA; her 7 children, Charese Dorsey of Frederick, MD, Phyllis Murphy of Triangle, VA, Rujena Murphy of Remington,VA, Sandra Crespo (Edwin) of Woodbridge, VA, Herbert Murphy, Jr. of Bristow, VA, Juanita Reynolds (Wilson) of King George, VA and Kelly Wallace (Mike) of Catlett, VA. Also surviving are twenty two grandchildren and fifteen great- grandchildren; Four sisters, Glenda Tasco of Reston VA, Darlene Payne of Reston, VA , Carolyn Crabbe of Manassas ,VA, Virginia Payne of Haymarket, VA and sister in law, Marylee Crabbe of Reston ,VA.
She also leaves to celebrate her memories a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends.

The family will receive visitors on Monday, January 22, 2018 from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at Crossway Fellowship, 8601 Plantation Lane, Manassas, Virginia. A funeral will begin at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Tony Campbell officiating.

Interment will follow at the Murphy Family Cemetery in Gainesville, Virginia.
