The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Richard Peterson can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Revived spirits

I was a lonesome, downhearted traveler sitting on my luggage on a cold, dreary afternoon in Brussels, 1966, when a cheery voice rang out and a hand clasped my shoulder. Dick's cheerful smile lit up the dark corners of my heart. It was so comforting for a lonely waif to be among family again. He took time out from his busy schedule to feed and shelter me and show me the beauties of the old city, as well as local customs and mores. At a gas station, Dick noted the politeness of the attendant: "Six 'mercis' in one minute." Dick's quick wit and humor raised my drooping spirits for the rest of my European adventure.
