Born June 7th, 1939 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late John and Ora Goldsmith Murphy. On June 6th, 1974, in Fairfax, VA, he married the former Sandra L. Cornwell, who survives. Mr. Murphy was a resident of the Manassas area for most of his life and was a member of the Manassas Moose Lodge, #1380. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 7 sisters. Surviving besides his beloved wife of 37 years, Sandra Murphy of Manassas, are four children all of Manassas; Maurice Moreno; Penny Sperry and her husband Robert; Ralph Murphy, Jr.; Ora Murphy; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 8th, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at the Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road Manassas. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 9th, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Todd Tennant officiating. Interment will take place in Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, VA.
