Name: Rita Christina Hopkins Date: March 14th, 1922 - January 11th, 2013 Obituary: Rita C. Hopkins, 90, of Gainesville, VA, passed away on January11, 2013, at Prince William Hospital, Manassas, VA as a result of complications from a broken hip. Born March 14, 1922, she was the daughter of Harry T. and Lillian Morris. Survivors include her two sons, Mark and wife Susan Hopkins and son Matthew and wife Leigh-Ann Hopkins of Gainesville and Purcellville, Virginia respectively, along with two grandsons (Matthew and Kevin) and two granddaughters, (Christina and Kimberly) and four nieces and nephews (Carol Showalter, Claire Vasios, Kathleen Morris and William Morris). Rita was the wife of 51 years to (RADM) LeRoy E. Hopkins and homemaker and led an active and independent life following his death in 2002. She was an accomplished artist and active in the Heritage Hunt community. She will be missed by her family and many friends. A memorial service in her honor will be held at the Manassas Church of the Brethren on Sunday, January 20th at 2:00pm; 10047 Nokesville Road, Manassas, VA 20110. Interment, with Military Honors, will ultimately take place at Arlington National Cemetery.
