Obituary:
Ruth E. Dempsey of Manassas, VA passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at age 78.

Mrs. Dempsey was a retiree of IBM Federal Systems Division where she worked for 19 years in Owego, NY and Manassas, VA. During the past 20 years, she has been co-owner of Dempsey’s Inc. Pool/Spa Supplies & Service of Manassas and Fairfax.

Preceded in death by her husband Richard E. Dempsey, Sr. and son, Lt. Richard E. Dempsey, Jr., Mrs. Dempsey is survived by her son, Patrick H. Dempsey of Bristow, VA and her daughter, Gayle Dempsey Adcock, Ph.D. of Manassas, VA. Also Surviving is her brother, Charles H. Breder of Manassas, VA, her daughter-in-law, Julie A. Dempsey of Bristow, VA, and 4 grandchildren including Dr. Patrick R. Adcock of Syracuse, NY, Richard T. Dempsey of Pensacola, FL, and Tyler B. and Meghan K. Dempsey of Bristow, VA.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. followed by a 12 p.m. prayer service at the Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Rd. Manassas, VA., with Rev. Richard Nelson officiating. The funeral procession will leave at 12:30 p.m. for the committal service at Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Rd., Triangle, VA which begins at 1:30 p.m.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Blue Ridge Christian Home in Bealeton, VA as well as those at Fauquier Hospital in Warrenton, VA for their loving care and support.
