Obituary for Kofi Tete Apedo

Kofi Tete Apedo, 28, from Manassas, VA went home to his Heavenly Father on Feb 14th, 2020.

He was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 16, 1991 to Joseph and Tessa Apedo. He married his wife, Adina Apedo on April 20th, 2019 in Reston, VA.

He was a loving husband, father, and brother who brought his family so much joy. He enjoyed an active lifestyle and especially loved playing basketball with his daughter. Kofi had exceptional physical abilities, beating all his siblings in any physical sport. He was an avid LA Chargers fan and enjoyed watching and playing football. Kofi was a star wide - receiver on the Lincoln Rail-splitters, number 21. He also enjoyed finding new foods to try, never letting go of his favorite dish Jollof rice. Family game nights were one of his favorites and he was always up for new challenges. His friends knew him as the go-to person for good advice and wise counsel. He had a way of finding the perfect words to encourage and comfort people at difficult times, and to support and celebrate his friends and family through their biggest triumphs. As an artist, Kofi enjoyed drawing cartoons and anime. Kofi also had a keen ear for sound and shared his passion for music with friends and family alike. His wit and humor could brighten any room. He was thoughtful and kind, calling his father daily to “check up” on him. He responded with glee and love to his nickname “Koof, Koof” given to him by his loving mother Tessa. To his oldest sister, he was a constant inspiration; always reminding her to bring her best. He was proud of his Ghanaian and Grenadian heritage and always found a way to celebrate his culture at many of the biggest moments in his life.

He is survived by his loving wife Adina Apedo, his daughter Anaiyah Apedo, his parents Joseph and Tessa Apedo, his siblings Melissa Apedo, Tymal Apedo, and Tymala Apedo, and by many other family members and friends who he loved deeply.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 24, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Chapel Springs Church, 11500 New Life Way, Bristow, Virginia. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. with Dr. Doug Chapman officiating.
