Heidi had the biggest heart

I have known Heidi for about 12 years and am thankful for the love and kindness she has shown to me and my family.  Heidi had a keen eye for detail at work, serving as the best proof reader you have ever met!  She was also very thoughtful- she would go out of her way to make sure staff knew how much their hard work was appreciated- taking cakes and bagels to the light show staff or coordinating potluck lunches to thank the managers. You felt like you really accomplished something when she asked for the recipe of something you had made!  She was always finding a way to give me a compliment, but never shy to tell me ways to improve, too!  I always took the feedback with a smile and a hug! She always made sure everyone had exactly what they needed.  She loved to bake for the Board and her favorite staff. Heidi holds a special place in my family's heart- she never missed a birthday for my 3 girls (or me, for that matter since we both shared June birthdays!)- baking them their favorite "hopscotch cake" and sending a thoughtful card or gift.  Our Christmas tree has a special ornament from Germany with 3 little angels that reminded Heidi of my girls. My youngest goes to sleep every night on a lamp pillow that Heidi gave her "just because".  Since retiring from NOVA Parks last year, the halls have been quieter and her presence has been missed. Before she left, we gave her a collage that included a lot of the staff each holding up a word that described her- baker, German, no filter, friend, just to name a few!  I know that there will never be anyone else quite like Heidi and I am thankful to have considered her a friend.  She was never shy with a hug or kiss and I hope that she knows that I loved her and will miss her terribly.

With love,

Blythe, Ken, Cate, Riley, and Charlotte Russian
