A Woman of Many Beautiful Layers

I have had the pleasure of knowing Heidi over the past fourteen years while working at NOVA Parks and have many memories of her wonderful laugh, generosity and her baking talent that would bring a smile to so many.  But the times I most cherish with Heidi are the many times we would venture out together and carpool to evening NOVA Parks Board Meetings located at various far-flung parts of our region.  These times were very special because I got to see a Heidi on a different level than just the office.  We had so many wonderful and heartfelt conversations on those drives.  I learned how special and proud she is of her family. She always smiled when speaking about her hockey-loving husband Steve and their latest plans.  She beamed with pride when talking about her son and his accomplishments and adventures. I know she was so happy when he moved to the area.  She loved those beautiful grandchildren and always gave me an update on the latest cute things they said or did. I saw an extra-special spark in Heidi once she was blessed with grandchildren. Love of travel and food are things we both shared, so we often compared flight prices to Europe, what European products at Lidl and Aldi are worth it and where we planned to travel or eat out next.  I will always cherish those times with Heidi and going to a NOVA Parks off-site meeting will never be quite the same for me.  I also know that Heidi loved to enjoy a good German beer.  I am not usually a beer drinker, but I will be having one tonight with a toast honor of Heidi.  Thank you, Heidi for the wonderful memories, I willl miss you!
