Obituary for Alan James Andreoni

Alan James Andreoni
Virginia resident, Alan J. Andreoni, 80, died on Saturday, May 30th, 2020 at his home in Gainesville, Virginia.

Alan was born on April 14, 1940 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Americus (Mac) and Vera Andreoni.

Al graduated from St. Joes in 1962 and joined the United States Air Force and Air Force Reserve where he served for 22 years before retiring as a Lt. Colonel.

Al’s greatest professional accomplishment was when he went back to graduate school at Texas A&M for Computer Science where he was a key contributor and leader in the development of the first online retrieval system for the Air Force Personnel System. In his private life, he was very proud to be an active member in the Knights of Columbus for Holy Trinity and All Saint’s Catholic Churches.

During Al’s life, he enjoyed traveling, woodworking, stained glass projects, and being an assistant soccer coach to his granddaughter, Keira. He also enjoyed cooking, polka & country western dancing, and spending time with his friends and family whom he cherished very much.

Al’s faith in God and his commitment to Catholicism gives us all peace that he is resting now with his Lord in Heaven.

Alan will be remembered as a wonderful husband to Jeanne his wife of 57 years, a supporting and encouraging father to his four children, Alan, Michael, Nicole, and Eric and the best Pop-Pop there is to his eight grandchildren, Ashley, Conlin, Michael, Ryan, Matthew, Keira, Isabella and Kaiden. Rest in Peace.
