Condolence From: Rod & Lali Deaton
Condolence: Joyce and Family, Lali and I were so sad to hear of Al’s passing. I was just talking with Wes Kingsley about Al just a few weeks ago. I truly miss the days working with Al in COMSEC and hearing his numerous stories. I’ve never known anyone who loved to cut grass than Al. He will be missed. Our condolences to you and your outstanding family. Rod & Lali

Condolence: Al ranks among the finest individuals we've ever had the pleasure of knowing. Never one to take life too seriously, he injected his contagious humor into any situation that warranted it. Yet Al was always an industrious, hard worker intent on doing a first-rate job. To his wonderful wife, Joyce, and the rest of the family, we offer our most since sympathy.

Condolence: Joyce and family,
In 1960, I arrived at a facility in the Philippines where I worked with Al. I recall that he always had a smile for everyone. Throughout the years, I occasionally met Al at work in the D.C. area, plus at Refcom luncheons. A good man! Blessings to the family.

Condolence: I was fortunate to have worked with Al for a short time when we served together in the mythical kingdom of Ogozalekstan in the vicinity of Tyson’s Corner. Al, a consummate story teller, made me wish I could have joined him as a boy on his grandparents farm – back when the entire area where we were then sitting was farmland.
Al greeted everyone with genuine affection and warmth and his smile was never far from his laugh. He brightened many days for his many friends.
With great respect,
John Sloan

Condolence: There are three memorable couples from my childhood; Ward and June Cleaver, Jim and Margaret Anderson and Alvin and Joyce Maxfield. Always smiling and friendly, always welcoming me into their home, Alvin and Joyce were a constant reminder that true love really did (does) exist. Renee and I kept Mr. Maxfield busy on weekends chaufeuring us around Manassas, making sure we didn’t miss a good movie at Reb Yank, a school dance, or other activities we got into. It’s been many years since I’ve seen Mr. Maxfield, but he touched my life in such a sweet, kind way, that after all this time, I still feel so very blessed to have known him. Renee, you are a beautiful combination of both of your parents, and through you, your wonderful Father continues to live on.
