Obituary for Annie Delores Jennings

Annie Delores Jennings
On December 29, 2022, our Heavenly Father dispatched an Angel to one of his chosen vessels to let her know that her assignment here had been fulfilled and completed. The Angel’s order was for Annie Delores Jennings to take a flight to come home to be with the Lord and spend eternity with him.

Annie was born on April 30, 1948, in present-day Prince William County. She was the daughter of the late Luther B Hamilton and late Annie Mae Hamilton-Brooks. Annie was the middle daughter of three children. She spent her younger years in Chicago where she graduated from Marshall High School. After graduating high school, Annie entered the workforce. She held several jobs until she started her career as a civil servant working for the Department of the Navy and later the United States Marine Corps supporting Manpower Management Support Branch (MMSB). During her 29-year career, she took on several challenges including converting from paper service record books to Microfiche and later conversion from optical images to digital storage. Throughout her career, she received several awards for her services.

Annie enjoyed hosting a variety of family gatherings including birthday celebrations graduation parties and scrabble game nights. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, she loved going to the Senior Center in Woodbridge where she played card games with a group of her friends. Annie met a lot of different people throughout the world by playing games on her computer. If she wasn’t home, Annie was normally traveling somewhere with her brother, Larry, and sister-in-law, Barbara. The biggest joy of her life was spending time with her grandsons whom she loved dearly.

Annie was preceded in death by her daughter Sabrina A. Jennings and her sister, Roberta J. Hamilton Plater. She will forever be loved and remembered by her daughter, Dawn D. Jennings, her grandsons; Jacar D. Baldwin and Anthony T. Jennings Jr., her brother Larry L. Hamilton (Barbara), her nieces: Rhonda Johnson and Veronica Smith, her nephew, Merrill Mauney and a host of family and friends.
