Barbara Ann  Teeple
Barbara Ann Teeple passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her devoted family on March 11, 2019, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s at the age of 77.

Barbara was born in Arlington, Virginia on April 18, 1941, and graduated from Washington-Lee High School in Arlington. She was the oldest of 5 children born to the late Emma Virginia Long and Robert Ezra Powell. She married the love of her life, Richard Teeple, on July 18, 1959, in Arlington, Virginia. She was blessed with 2 loving children, Kathy Teeple and Rick Teeple, and one adoring granddaughter, Emma Teeple.

Barbara was a beloved teacher, the brains behind several businesses, and in later life a legal secretary. She stopped working in 2005 so that she could spend more time with her granddaughter, Emma. She was a stellar bowler, an avid reader, and her killer skills as a Scrabble player earned her the nickname “Fang.” She enjoyed traveling and visited many countries including Canada, Mexico, Europe, the UK and Russia.

Barbara was preceded in death by her loving mother, Emma Virginia Long, and her father, Robert Ezra Powell.

She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Richard Teeple, daughter, Kathy Teeple, and granddaughter, Emma Teeple, all from Haymarket, VA; her son and daughter-in-law, Rick & Lisa Teeple of Conway, SC. She also leaves behind her sister and brother-in-law, Darlene & Jim Flanagan, of Haymarket, VA, her sister and brother-in-law, Joan & Alfred Willett, of Dallas, TX, her brother and sister-in-law, MSgt USAF (ret) Tom & Sue Long, of San Antonio, TX, and her brother, Jimmy Powell, of Warrenton, VA. She is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces and nephews. She was shepherded on her crossing by the love and prayers of many family and friends. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

Barbara will be interred at the Quantico National Cemetery on Friday, March 22, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow the interment at the Teeple home in Haymarket. In lieu of flowers you can donate, in Barbara’s name, to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org, or to Vitas Hospice.
