Betty Smith  Sanders
Betty Louise Smith Sanders (88) of Manassas, VA departed for heaven February 27, 2021 in Woodbridge, VA. She was born January 28, 1933 in Elizabeth City, NC. She was the wife of Rev. Aubrey C. Sanders and they have served the Lord together since 1951, ministering in Virginia;(Manassas, Independent Hill, and Woodbine communities, since 1963) and previously in North Carolina; (Camden and Powellsville, 1957-1963).

She was an industrious Proverbs 31 woman having built up her home where she shared her love, wisdom, and good cooking with all. She was a second mom, spiritual mom, adopted mother and grandmother to many who just called her “Mom Sanders”.

She always had a heart for missions intending to go to the mission field with her husband until life redirected their path because of her health issues. She never lost the desire to share the message of Christ’s love and was a gifted teacher to children, Sunday school classes, and Women’s Bible Studies. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Aubrey C. Sanders, her love and lifelong friend; Her four children Nita Mitchell (Steve), Dee Cox (Tommy), Beth Pike (Jerald), Michael Sanders (Suzanne); Ten grandchildren Bethany Ganz (Danny), Natalie Bryan (JB), Thomas Cox (Analisa), Kathryn Pugh (Robbie), Joshua Cox, Clarissa Sanders, Richie Sanders(Tori), Rebecca Cox, Timothy Pike, and Zachary Pike; Twelve great-grandchildren: Alyssa Confino, Isabella Confino, Andrew Confino, Ezra Ganz, Ella Ganz, Eli Ganz, Carter Bryan, Lydia Bryan, Malia Bryan, Blake Mitchell, Maggie Pugh, and Joshua Pugh.

She was pre-deceased by her parents Charlie and Mattie (Scaff) Smith and brothers Earl Smith, Durwood Smith, and Walter Smith, all of Elizabeth City. A funeral service will be held at Real Life Church, 5023 Davis Ford Rd. Woodbridge, VA 22192 on Wednesday March 10, 2021 with the viewing at 1:00 pm and a service following at 2:00 pm. A service will take place at Berea Baptist Church 2033 N. Road St., Elizabeth City, NC 27909 on Friday March 12, 2021 with the viewing at 1:00 pm and a funeral service following at 2:00 pm with interment following at New Hollywood Cemetery.

She loved the Lord with all of her heart and served Him well. She demonstrated her love for him and others through her service. Surely she entered heaven hearing “Well Done Thy Good and Faithful Servant.”
