Obituary for Brenda Kaye Livengood

Brenda Kaye Livengood
It is with a heavy heart that we announce our beloved Mother, Brenda Kaye Livengood, passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at the age of 72. Brenda was born on September 16, 1951, in Alexandria, Virginia to Ralph and Helen Livengood.

Brenda graduated from Thomas A. Edison High School in Alexandria, Virginia in 1969. After graduation she took a job working at the Pentagon as an Admiral Secretary. She later went on to marry Charles Mantiply in 1972 and they had two daughters. They were married for 12 years and after separating they remained good friends. In 1990 she met Gordon Rhodes who she spent the next 30 years with until his unexpected passing in August of 2020.

If you knew Brenda, you loved her. She was warm and kindhearted, and she had the most infectious smile. She enjoyed spending time with her family, baking, sewing, cross stitching, reading, drawing, doing puzzles and taking long walks. In the summer, you could find her and Gordon boating and cruising with the top down on the Mercedes. Brenda loved animals; they were drawn to her. It was the reason her family called her Snow White. The most enjoyment she had in life was being a devoted and loving mother and grandmother.

Brenda is survived by her daughters Leslie Lequar (Husband Lance Lequar) and Kimberly Mantiply, grandchildren Skylar, Cameron and Savannah, and great grandchildren Brody and Emerson. She is also survived by her sister Becky and her brothers Randy, Ricky and Eddy. And several nieces and nephews.

Brenda is preceded in death by her fiancé, Gordon Rhodes and her parents Ralph and Helen Livengood.

Family will receive family and friends with open arms on Friday, April 5th from 12-1pm. Service will begin at 1 pm at Baker-Post Funeral Home, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas, VA.

Following the service the family will be welcoming everyone to Leslie and Lance’s home, 12401 Rochester Park Ct., Bristow, VA.
