Obituary for David Samuel Curry

David S. Curry was born May 7, 1942 in Crane Texas to Charles and Waldene Curry, and passed away in Haymarket, Virginia August 29, 2022 due to complications from leukemia.
David’s lifelong passion of playing golf started in high school while playing on the Crane High School state finals golf team and continuing most recently with his golfing friends in Dunbarton, VA.
Upon graduation from high school, he spent a year in Alaska before returning to Texas to help with his ailing father. He decided the oil fields of West Texas was not where he wanted to be, so he enrolled at the University of Texas, Arlington Campus, graduating with a degree in Economics in 1965. Arlington is where Dave met his wife, Sylvia. After getting married in 1965 and moving to Maryland, Dave attended graduate school at the University of Maryland. After completing his Masters in Economics, he worked for the Federal Government, retiring in 1995 from the Senior Executive Service at the Treasury Department as Director of the Office of Middle East and Energy Policy.
David is survived by his wife Sylvia of Bristow, Virginia, son Lyle Curry (Heather) of Marietta, Georgia, daughter Laura Curry-Greene (Steve Greene) of Bristow, VIrginia, and five grandchildren Parker and Brayden Curry. Gabriella, Carolina and Jason Curry-Greene. Sister, Reba Curry of Texas.
He was preceded in death by son, Andrew Curry, parents Charles and Waldene Curry, brothers Charles and John Curry, half-brother Charles Curry (Jack), and half-sisters Margaret Wood and Ruth Cely.
Per David's wish, there will be no services.
Rest in peace until we meet again.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to NVFS’ SERVE Manassas Campus or a charity of your choice.
