Obituary for David Richard Dunn

David Richard Dunn passed away in the afternoon of Sunday, April 9, 2023, surrounded by loved ones.
Dave was born on October 3, 1953, to John Dunn and Priscilla Daniels. He was born in New Jersey and spent much of his life in Massachusetts, and he spent his last several months with family in Warrenton, Virginia.

Dave was a kind, loving, generous, and adventurous man. Throughout his battle with leukemia in the final weeks of his life, he shared daily stories and jokes with visitors and nurses alike. He hoped that when people remembered him, they would share a joke in his honor. He loved making people laugh, and he did it very well. A lot of things came naturally to Dave. He was a gifted athlete and enjoyed skiing, figure skating, waterskiing, running, and other athletic pursuits for many years of his life. He also had a natural artistic talent, and he enjoyed painting, creating stained glass pieces, playing guitar, and most of all sharing these gifts with other people. He enjoyed travel and adventure, as well as spending time with family and friends, and he loved sharing his many stories.

He was also an incredible father and loved his two children unconditionally. He was very present throughout their entire lives, not just there but always a part of things and sharing experiences with them. He was curious and attentive, always wanting to learn more about everyone he interacted with and how they viewed the world, especially his children. He met people where they were without judgment, and he also held his own values very firmly. He was generous with his time and loved helping people. He saw the magic in every day and held a joyful light in his eyes. And, of course, he told many dad jokes. Having him as a dad was a gift, and his children are grateful to carry on his legacy and live out everything he taught them.

Dave is survived and lovingly remembered by his child Aedan Dunn and their partner Sam Dunn; his child Danny Dunn and their partner Dristen Pedroso; his sister Bette Hine and her husband Bill Hine; his sister Ann Pursel; his sister Caere Dunn; his partner of five years Patricia Brennan; and many other family members and friends.
