Condolence: I sincerely offer my most heartfelt condolences. I served with Don in Cape May, NJ 1988. I talked to him earlier this year. He was a mentor and a great shipmate. Thank you for posting in the Chief’s magazine. His wife and sons are not his only legacy, he touched many lives and will be greatly missed. God Bless the Golaszewski family.

Condolence: Our friendship was way too short. We were able to overcome distance and time to keep it alive. As time went by, life complicated our schedules but the short telephone calls and the occasional Saturday afternoon luncheon keep our friendship active. Now the time has come for you to blaze the trail for the rest of us and I truly look forward to our next meeting in heaven.

Condolence: “ I am so very sorry to hear of Don's passing! He and I were in the same carpool together and he shared many funny stories about his sons, especially about the bearded dragons since I have several, as well. As I left DoDEA about a year ago, I didn't see Don but I spoke with him several months ago and he never said anything about being sick. My prayers go out to you and your family and surround you with peace and strength to handle everything that comes your way. ”

Condolence: Uncle Duck was one of the most honest, genuine people that I've had the privilege of knowing. He had a big heart, great mind, and astounding work ethic. Most of all he was a wonderful husband to Claire and loving father to his 6 boys. His death has truly saddened me and I'm sure he's up in Heaven with my mom looking down and watching over all of us - he has truly earned his angel wings. He will be greatly missed. RIP Don (Duck) Golaszewski -Liz

Condolence From: Bob and Nancy Oliver
Condolence: Our hearts are broken. Don was a great man. He was a great father- who loved his sons and saw their unique gifts. He respected the men they had become. He served his country and his fellow Coast Guardsmen with integrity, dignity and pride. He was a loving husband and a true friend. His easy smile and a contagious laugh live on in our memories. Our friendship spans 40 years, a man we asked to be God Father to our son, Peter. We are so sorry for your loss and will be praying as you all learn how to live without Don being glib, or wise, or sarcastic. We will all miss him very much.
