On Sunday, October 28, 2018, Dorothy Nell (Boone) Parsons passed away at the age of 93.
Dorothy was born on January 19, 1925 in Kaufman Texas to Ted and Lela (Boles) Boone. She
married Winston Roy Parsons, Jr on February 14, 1946. They raised one son, Michael Roy
Parsons, and two granddaughters, Michelle and Chrissy. She resided with her husband in the
Washington DC area for many years before retiring to Port Orange Florida.
Dorothy graduated from Forney High School in 1943. She participated in many extracurricular
activities including the pep squad, tennis team and girls basketball....which was a ‘new’ sport
back then! Dorothy was a consummate homemaker. While raising her granddaughters she
was very active at their school (volunteering in the school office and attending PTA meetings).
She also loved to entertain! She enjoyed big band music and loved to dance. She liked
watching football, especially college football. But her favorite thing to do was vacation at the
beach and spend time in the sun.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her father Ted and her mother Lela (most of us knew her as
Lila), brothers Keith and Bobby, as well as her adored husband of 50 years, Winston Roy
Parsons Jr, and beloved companion of 17 years, Leon Noory. She is survived by her son
Michael Roy Parsons, two granddaughters Michelle Renee Stolte and Christina Lea Hawkins,
her sister Edna Stiles and her brother David Boone. She also leaves behind one greatgranddaughter,
four great-grandsons, two great-great-grandsons and many nieces and
Dorothy will be interred with her husband at Arlington National Cemetary. A memorial will be
held for her at the time of interment.
