Obituary for Edna Phyllis Allen

Edna Phyllis Allen, born March 23, 1936 in Talcott, West Virginia and passed away March 3, 2019 in Daleville, Virginia.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Phil and Francis Simmons of Hinton, West Virginia, Sisters, Wilma Jean Campbell of Woodbridge, Virginia and Luzana Bell Howard of Dale City, Virginia. She is also preceded by her only grandson, Jeremy Glenn Fox. She is survived by her husband of sixty-four years, Edgar Lee “Pedro” Allen; sister, Sara Meadows (Sonny) of Lake Placid, Florida; daughters, Kathy Allen Fox (Jerry) of Manassas, and Diane Cox of Fincastle; grandchildren, Sara M. Cox and Ellie M. Cox of Nebraska; great-grandchildren, Meadow Rain Houseman, Lillian Marie Cox, Allen James Houseman, and Nora Lynn Cox, all of Nebraska.

Phyllis retired from A&P Tea Company with over twenty-five years of service. She and “Pedro” retired to Fincastle in 1998. She totally enjoyed her flowers and gardening. She loved to join Pedro on his journeys to “train watch” in West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 7, 2019 in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home, 14920 Lee Highway, Buchanan with Father Stephen McNally officiating. A period of visitation with the family will be from 1:00 pm until the time of the service. Also there will be a funeral service held at Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas on Monday, March 11, 2019 beginning at 11 am, with a period of visitation from 10:00 am until the time of the service.

Interment will follow in Stafford Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the Alzheimer’s Association.
