Obituary for Emmet James Butler III

Emmet James Butler III
Emmet James Butler III, 41, of Manassas passed away suddenly on June 15, 2022.

Born on July 4, 1980, in Reno, NV, he was the son of Emmet James Butler II and Sharon Woolard.

Emmet lived in several places growing up including Nevada, Washington state and Florida. He was raised by his grandmother, Irene Butler. At just 15 years old he was out on his own. He managed to get an apartment, work and finish high school. He was always strong and persistent and that served him well throughout his life.

After 9/11, Emmet decided he wanted to serve his country and so on October 10, 2001, he enlisted in the USAF. During his service he deployed several times and received many commendations. In February 2018, SSgt Butler officially retired from the Air Force after over 16 years of dedicated service.

In 2018 he began working for PL Consulting, Inc. as a government contractor. His contributions to the company were extensive. In 2021 he was offered a DOD position which he gladly accepted. He wanted nothing more than to get an official retirement pension. At this new job he was a part of the United States Space Force. His cyber security training and knowledge was extensive, and he was a huge asset to those he worked with during this time.

Emmet was the perpetual student. He loved going to school and learning. He earned several degrees and certifications and even helped a few people earn their own degrees. Just before his passing he was looking into starting his master’s degree. Emmet was always striving to better himself. He desired to live an accomplished life. For those who knew him we can wholeheartedly agree that he did.

The people in his life know of his passion for anything Superman related. He always said that he wanted to save someone in a big way someday. He finally accomplished this through organ donation. It was his final precious gift to this world.

Emmet used to say that his children were his legacy. He left behind 7 children; Lexxi Nesjan and Mya Nesjan of Canada; Serenity Butler of Florida; and Emmet "Finn" James Butler IV, Riley Butler, Lincoln Butler and Lochlan Butler all of Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Woolard; his grandfather, Emmet Butler Sr.; his father, Emmet Butler II; his aunt Elaine Butler; and his grandmother, Irene Butler. He is survived by his children; his wife, Melissa Butler; his brother Jared Stahl and wife Shandel; his sister Jennifer Stahl and numerous other family and friends.

Emmet truly never met a stranger and as such made friends wherever he went. He is greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A celebration of life will be held on July 9, 2022, at 11am at Baker-Post Funeral Home on 10001 Nokesville Rd, Manassas, VA 20110. The family will then receive visitors at 1pm at their home.
