Obituary for Evelyn Ludlow Flynn
Evelyn Jarrell Ludlow Flynn, 3/15/1942 to 4/3/2021
Evelyn “Evie” passed away peacefully at home after a short illness, surrounded by family and hospice support. Born in Washington DC to Louis and Evelyn Ludlow, she was the second of three daughters, Sarah, Evelyn, and Katherine. Evie grew up in Falls Church, VA, and finished high school in her mother’s hometown of Thomasville, GA. She studied at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, FL, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations. Later, she returned to school to pursue her Master of Social Work degree at Virginia Commonwealth University and began a long, enjoyable career as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, serving many patients as their therapist and counselor. Co-founder of Folie à Deux Winery, she took pride in her second career as winery owner. Evie was an avid gardener and an amazing piano player. She enjoyed travel and especially loved the beach. When at the beach you would often find Evie sitting in a lounge chair with a good book watching her loved ones frolic in the water. She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Evelyn Ludlow, sister Kathi MacCormack, first husband Rex Flynn and second husband Vito Mastrangelo. Mother to Sean L. Flynn, Holli Evelyn Flynn-Berry (Mark) and M. Lara McDonell (Chris). Grandmother “Mema” to Sean Patrick, Michelle, and Zoë. Aunt to Kim and Keith MacCormack and Andy and Kate Barley. She was a bright light, mentor, a loving presence, and touched many. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Capital Caring Hospice or the Novant Health UVA Health System Auxiliary.
