Obituary for Florence Josephine Senecal

Florence Josephine Senecal passed away on Dec 24, 2019 peacefully at her daughter’s home in Woodbridge, VA. She was surrounded by her daughter and 2 granddaughters.

Josephine "Josie" Senecal was born Jan.13, 1933 outside Charlottesville, VA to Robert E. and Fannie Jane Viar. She was one of fourteen children. She is survived by 1 brother Willard and 2 sisters Elizabeth and Annie Mae. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She retired in 1988 after 30 years from Fairfax County Dept. of Social Services.

Josephine was preceded in death by her loving husband Gerard (Jerry) Senecal, her parents and 10 siblings.

Josephine loved to read, do search a word puzzles and spend time with her family. Josie and Jerry were die-hard Redskins. She enjoyed watching the Redskin games on Sundays with her husband. They had a "No call policy" anytime that the Redskins were on the T.V.

She survived by her two children, Gerard (Jerry) Senecal Jr of Tampa, FL and Linda Bolden and her husband James of Woodbridge, VA. She was known as "Granny" to her six grandchildren, Jeff Hall, Angela Waldrop( (Jerry), Kevin Senecal, Tony Hall ( Jennifer), Laura Hall, Trisha Hall and her 12 great- grandchildren and great- great grandchild.

Granny will be missed by all of us. Until we meet again we will continue to tell your stories and keep your traditions going.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 2, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas, Virginia. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dallas Slemp officiating.

Interment will immediately follow at Stonewall Memory Gardens, Manassas, Virginia.
