George Lynn  Herndon
George Lynn Herndon, 64, of Manassas, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, February 25th, 2021 at Reston Hospital Center after a long battle with several illnesses. He was born in Manassas, Virginia and grew up in Nokesville, Virginia. He was in the class of 1976 at Brentsville District High School and played on the football team there. After high school he went to work for the telephone company and spent over 30 years there before retiring from Verizon in 2008 due to health issues.

George was preceded in death by his parents Horace E. Herndon, Sr. and Ruby M. Herndon of Nokesville.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Patricia (Patty) Herndon of Manassas, daughter, Tara Nicole Herndon of Warrenton and one granddaughter, Alayna Skye Herndon, also of Warrenton. He is also survived by his brother Horace E. Herndon, Jr. and his wife Joy of Madison, Virginia, brother, Jerry Herndon and his wife Ann of Manassas, Virginia, brother Glen Herndon and his wife Carolyn of Nokesville, Virginia, sister Joyce Compton and her husband Claude of Aldie Virginia and sister Karen Barrett and her husband, Michael of Opal Virginia. He is also survived by 9 nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and great-nephews and very many loving friends.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the American Kidney Foundation or the American Heart Association in his memory.
