Obituary for Glenn Robert Walker
Glenn R. Walker, beloved brother, uncle and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 10, 2019 due to natural causes at his home in Nokesville, Virginia.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Helen Owns Walker, his second mother, Delores Walker; and two step- brothers, Chuck and Mike Miller.
He was born on January 29, 1960 in Arlington, VA and lived in Fairfax, VA until he was seven years old. Shortly after the death of his mother, his father remarried and moved to Nokesville, VA, where he lived for most of his life.
Glenn graduated from Brentsville District High School in 1979. After high school, he worked for a gentleman name Bill Knight. When Bill wanted to start a construction business in Florida, Glenn went along and ended up working and living in Florida for three years.
When Glenn returned to Virginia, he went to work for S.W. Rodgers in Gainesville, VA starting in 1984. In June of 1987, there was a tragic accident, and it left Glenn disabled. In January 1996, due to the accident, he ended up losing half of his right leg. December 2009, he suffered a severe stroke. Glenn learned to live with his disability with grace.
He was very close to his father. They would take a week every February to Florida to attend the Daytona 500. Glenn loved stock car racing and would spend his Saturday nights at Old Dominion Speedway in Manassas.
Upon his father’s passing in June of 2014, Glenn’s health started to decline.
He would buy lottery tickets and say “one day he’s going to win.” He was always doing something, whether it be driving around town in his truck, riding his 2 Kubota tractors or shooting the breeze with his friends.
Glenn had a great sense of humor, he loved “pulling your chain.” playing a joke or telling one. He had a gentle heart and would give you his last dine or do anything you needed. Most of all, he loved his family, friends, and the family pets, Ralph and Lucky. Whenever you saw Glenn in his truck, there was a high likelihood that he would have his furry travel buddy with him.
Glenn leaves behind his sisters, Terry Walker of Warrenton, VA, Sharon Bryant and Karen Walker both of Nokesville, VA. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews to include, Tara Walker, Shane Bryant (girlfriend Alysia), Brandon Bryant, Chris (Missy) Earhart and Tina (Roger) Ringer. Also surviving are great-nieces and great nephews; Dakota, Skyler and Sofia Bryant, Lyndsey Water, Maxine Harris, McKenzie and Alex Ringer, R.J.(Alexis) Walker-Otty, Myles Moat, Dylan Henry, C.J. Earhart, Hunter and Nick Ringer and other aunts, uncles, and cousins in Somerset, PA.
Family and friends are welcome to celebrate Glenn’s life on Saturday, March 23, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Park Valley Church, 4500 Waverly Farm Drive, Haymarket, Virginia.
