Helen Ritter Saylors
Helen Ritter Saylors passed away on May 8, 2020, with her husband Jack at her side. Helen passed while at Hope HealthCare Center in Fort Myers, Florida.

Helen Louise Ritter was born on June 28, 1933, to Louise and Ted Ritter in Manassas, Virginia. Helen graduated from Osbourn High School, where she met her husband, Jack, who survives. They married on June 15, 1951 and were married for 68 years.

As Jack says, you are very lucky to get to be married to the one you love, and-also for her to be your best friend. They enjoyed traveling together with family and friends, both in the states and overseas.
Helen held many positions in her lifetime as she worked at the Pentagon , for a Colonel in the U.S. Airforce, she worked as a secretary for both R.J. Radcliffe Insurance Agency and to Commonwealth Attorney H. Selwyn Smith. She also worked at the Prince William County Courthouse for Clerk Leda Thomas and later as a real estate agent.

Manassas was very special to Helen and she was very involved in her community. Helen was one of the first Pink Ladies at Prince William Hospital, now known as Novant Prince William Medical Center. She worked directly with Loy Harris on the revitalization of Old Town Manassas and was also the President of the Manassas Junior Women’s Club as well as an active member of the Bull Run Republican Women’s Club. Helen also served as a member of Grace United Methodist Church where she was very active in preparing monthly dinners with Bibs Wheeling and Stall Mallard.

High on her list of enjoyable things to do were her and her old high school buddies getting together three times a week to play Bingo. She also was an avid Bridge player, which she had played for over 50 years with her friends both in Manassas and Florida. She was also known to play tennis at Sudley Club and play golf at Evergreen Country Club as well as Kelly Greens Country Club in Fort Myers, Florida.

Family meant so much to Helen and she loved spending time with all, attending many soccer, softball, and baseball games.

She is survived by her husband, Jack; her daughter, Julia Hentz; her son, Jeff Saylors and his wife Kathy as well as five grandchildren, Lindsey Hentz, Kevin Hentz, Kelsey Saylors, Alyson Saylors and Axl Saylors. Also surviving is one great-granddaughter, Aubrey Saylors; a sister, Betty Busby and many nieces and cousins.

Helen never met a stranger, and she will be missed by her family and many dear friends.
