Obituary for Jack Lewis Pennington

Jack Lewis Pennington
Jack Lewis Pennington, 67, of Gainesville, passed away April 16, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.

Jack was born January 4, 1952, in Danville KY, the son of the late Ruel J. & Zola Lewis Pennington.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Gail (Poppe); son Jeffrey and wife Danielle Pennington; granddaughters Kaia Elizabeth Pennington & Natilie McCallick; daughter Jennifer (Pennington) Meunier and granddaughter Kendall Meunier.

DDaw wanted nothing more than to be included in the everyday lives of his children and grandchildren. He always had time for lengthy and deep discussions as lives were shaped into personal journeys. He was “that parent” who attended every school event, church program, sports activity, cub or brownie scout activity.

Jack abundantly loved all the young people in his life and actively sought to interact with them in his capacity of youth leader at Grace UMC in the early 1990s, school bus driver, and youth sports cheerleader.

Stubborn and passionate about his political views, his Love for learning (esp Eng literature) and infectious laugh endeared him to countless people.

He had a gift for music that was shaped by the Woodstock era; talent for Tole Painting; and the deepest fountain of random facts of anyone you’ve ever met...a title he wore proudly.

Jack lived his life meeting people where they were at...trying to influence others to do the same.

He will be loved and missed greatly by his family, friends, and all those he has touched along the way.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 20, 2019 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas, where a celebration of Jack’s life will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Denise Childers officiating.

With his passion for youth sports, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions take the form of a donation to the Brentsville District High School, C/O Baker-Post Funeral Home, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas, VA 20110; In the memo line, please designate, Girls Varsity Basketball.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, under the direction of Michael Post. Please sign the guestbook at www.bakerpostfh.com.
