Obituary for James Thomas Wilt

JAMES THOMAS WILT, 78, of Manassas Park, Virginia, passed peacefully on July 29th, 2019.
He was born to the late Boyd and Roberta Wilt on September 15, 1940 in Olney, Maryland. He spent his childhood in Olney before moving to Washington D.C. On March 11, 1962, he married his surviving wife, the former Dorothy Fait, in Washington D.C. and they settled in Alexandria, Virginia to begin a family. In 1976, Jim and Dorothy moved to Manassas Park, Virginia to raise their family and have remained residents of Manassas Park since that time.

Jim is remembered as a jokester who had a love for trains and cars. He retired from the Washington D.C. government where he worked for 30+ years as a heavy equipment operator.

Jim loved his family deeply and enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Surviving family includes his wife of 57 years, Dorothy; his son Todd Wilt of Louisville, Kentucky; his daughter Jennifer Wilt, and son-in-law John Sherman of Danville, Virginia; his son David Wilt, and daughter-in-law Laura Wilt, of Manassas Park, Virginia; his grandson Ben Sherman of Danville, Virginia; and his grandson Isaiah Wilt of Front Royal, Virginia. He is also survived by his sister, Ann Davis of Arlington, Virginia.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 2nd, 2019 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at the Baker-Post Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas, VA. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 p.m. with interment immediately following at Stonewall Memory Gardens in Manassas, VA.
