Janet Lee Dennis, of Gainesville, Virginia, departed her life on September 29th, 2022, at the age of 90.

Janet was born in New Jersey, on August 4th, 1932, to her father, Frank Philipona and mother, Myra Stackhouse. Always holding a big heart, Janet was kind, loving, personable, and a woman of faith. Always smiling, she was a person with bright intention, and one who led the way of those in her life.

For over 25 years, Janet dedicated herself to the life of teaching, a passion she found at a young age. Majority of her time spent was in Fairfax County School System, and earlier in her life, teaching in the sunshine state of Florida. Janet was an avid quilter, in which she found joy in creating quilts for her local church, Grace United Methodist Church, in Manassas. For those that needed a prayer, or simply to know Janet was thinking of her, she made “Prayer Quilts,” which were loved by many. Janet loved her Grace family, as much as they loved her. Janet was a loving mother, friend, but most importantly, a disciple of Christ.

Janet is preceded in passing by her loving Husband William, and her son James Scott Dennis.
Janet is survived by her son John Dennis, his wife Angelica, and their son Christopher Dennis. She also leaves behind numerous cousins, dear friends, and a church community who cared for her deeply.

The family would like to take the time to thank everyone for their gracious thoughts and prayers through this difficult time.

Services will be held on Monday, September 17th with a visitation from 10-11 with a service to immediately follow at 11, located at Grace United Methodist Church, 9750 Wellington Rd. Manassas, VA 20110.
