Obituary for Jemal Amoun Francis

Jemal Amoun Francis, affectionately known as “Omar Epps” and “Fat Boy”, was born on February 10, 1981, to Linda and William Gregory Francis in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. On Tuesday, April 2, 2024, Jemal finished his race after a courageous fight, being surrounded by family, at Inova Fairfax Hospital, in Falls Church, VA.
Jemal accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior at an early age and was baptized at North Stafford Baptist Church.

He attended Brooke Point High School, in Stafford, Virginia. He later moved with his grandparents and attended Conestoga High School in Wayne, PA. where he graduated in June 1999. After high school, he attended Norfolk State University, in Norfolk, VA for three years.

Jemal was a very passionate entrepreneur, he started his first business as an ice cream truck owner. He traveled through various neighborhoods selling ice cream treats but you always could hear him first with his music blaring. During his life, he worked for various plumbing companies where he eventually took the exam in 2016 to be certified as a Master Plumber. He then started his own plumbing business with his brother Stefon, 2Brother’s Plumbing in Manassas serving surrounding counties and assisting family with plumbing problems.

Jemal was a devoted son, brother, caring uncle and a loyal friend. Jemal was a big advocate for his family togetherness and let us know when we went to long to get together. He had a passion for nice cars. fast motorcycles and loud sounds. He enjoyed attending, car/bike shows and he enjoyed poker nights which he attended with his emotional support dog, Lucky.

Preceding him in death were his grandfather, Edward Johnson; grandmothers, Leonia Johnson and Joanne Johnson, Uncle Daniel Cephas, and his cousin Ricardo Hinton.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving mother Linda Francis, his father William (Pat) Francis; his sister Seanna Francis and brother Stefon Francis; girlfriend Kim Wright; emotional support dog, Lucky; grandmother Elizabeth J. Francis; nieces and nephews Shamia, Scott, Iyana, Karter, Jaliyah; aunts LaVarro (Fred) Minor, Rose Hinton, Barbara Cephas, Susan (Dan) Williams; uncle LaVance Johnson; numerous cousins, family and a host of friends to include the car/bike and poker community.

The family will receive friends from 11-12 p.m. on Friday, April 12th, 2024, at Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, located at 10001 Nokesville Rd. Manassas, VA 20110. Funeral services will begin at 12 noon, in the funeral home chapel.

Interment will follow at 1:30 PM in the Midland Cemetery, Midland, VA.
