Condolence: I was saddened to read about Jerry's passing in the Augustana newsletter. In 1968 Jerry hired me in the Business Office so I could afford to continue my degree in elementary education. During that time I was sent from a methods class to a nearby elementary school to work with a first grader who turned out to be his son (Steve, I believe). As a very gifted young man he was years ahead of the other 39 in his class. (That sparked a desire in me to continue some graduate work in gifted education studies later.) Jerry's kindness to hire me lead to my graduation and 35 years as a teacher and elementary/middle school principal. I will always be grateful, and remember him as one of the nicest people I've ever known. My condolences to your family with God's blessings.

Please accept my condolence on the passing of Jerry. I remember you both singing in the sanctuary choir & Jerry's laugh. No matter what had happened, Jerry could find a pleasant spot through the bad & smile. I will miss him at church.
