Obituary

John L. Fields, Jr. (Johnny) left this world peacefully on January 13, 2019. Johnny was the second of three children born to John Lewis Fields, Sr. and Joan Ann (Sprouse) Fields. He was their only son.

Johnny was the father of five children, each of whom he shared a deeply unique relationship with and loved completely. His two oldest, Jennifer Leigh and Ashley Montana, were born to him and Cheryl Ann (Puskas) Fields, who he married on November 21, 1981. Johnny’s three youngest, John Ryan, Skylar Rayne, and Kyle Riser, were born to him and his longtime partner and friend, Sherri Morton.

Johnny joins his father John, who passed away on December 6, 2000, his older sister Debbie, who passed away on December 4, 2002, and his mother Joan, who passed away on December 21, 2017.

In addition to Johnny’s five children, he is survived by his younger sister, Roxanne Denise (Fields) Thomas. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, Brianna, Brandon, Diego, Laith, and Xile. His love for his grandchildren was unconditional and without measure. Left also to cherish his memory are his four nephews, three great nieces, one great nephew, a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins, plus three very special young adults he took under his wing many years ago – Brittany, Amber, and Shaynne.

After dedicating nearly 30 years to the siding business at Lupton’s Aluminum, Johnny switched careers and began working with his brother-in-law, Larry Cornwell, as a Lawn Technician for LawnMasters. Johnny loved being outside, was an extremely hard worker, and a perfectionist who took great pride in all he did.

Johnny lived his whole life in Northern Virginia. He was raised in Falls Church and was a 1979 graduate of George C. Marshall High School. Johnny enjoyed sitting on his front porch, being surrounded by his family, and was passionate about music, specifically Kid Rock and Hank Jr. Johnny impacted many people with his strong will and unique sense of humor. He was deeply loved and will be missed beyond words.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 18, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas, VA 20110. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Hmm where to begin..met him when jennifer and ashley lived on Magarity, then his family took roots on lusby..Would pass them all the time out front siting jamming and just being real..loved sitting on my front porch listening to the jams coming from Thier home..every now and then I would stop by probably more often than I can count to sit smoke and sing..then part 2 came Sherri and John ryan skylar and kyle, my doll was down there everyday playing my favorite memory was him calling me red neck why he called me that I never new, my nick name for him was asshole, but he was my bro and I will miss his smart ass jokes and spirit and his rebellious I'm gonaa do me attitude..my youngest has shared sooo many memories of him even that he was nicknamed beamer. I told him that meant he loved. Rip johnny you will be so missed..love from camp campbell♡ picture

Sending my deepest condolences to his kids & his family. I know Johnny is no longer suffering and has reunited in heaven with so many loved ones he lost along the way. What a wonderful man Johnny was! I have so so many memories of him, it's hard to pick just one but my favorite memories of him are from when I was a teenager and his daughter Jennifer (my best friend) and I would have sleep overs. Uncle "Redneck" would always have Hank Williams JR jammin on the stereo after a long day of work and he would be enjoying a cold beer relaxing on his front porch. Johnny was a hard worker and always took care of his kids. Johnny will be missed by so many and I pray God will help to heal the kids of the pain of losing their father. Hugs and prayers , a family friend forever Kelly Carpenter
