Obituary for John Lewis "Johnny" Fields Jr.

John L. Fields, Jr. (Johnny) left this world peacefully on January 13, 2019. Johnny was the second of three children born to John Lewis Fields, Sr. and Joan Ann (Sprouse) Fields. He was their only son.

Johnny was the father of five children, each of whom he shared a deeply unique relationship with and loved completely. His two oldest, Jennifer Leigh and Ashley Montana, were born to him and Cheryl Ann (Puskas) Fields, who he married on November 21, 1981. Johnny’s three youngest, John Ryan, Skylar Rayne, and Kyle Riser, were born to him and his longtime partner and friend, Sherri Morton.

Johnny joins his father John, who passed away on December 6, 2000, his older sister Debbie, who passed away on December 4, 2002, and his mother Joan, who passed away on December 21, 2017.

In addition to Johnny’s five children, he is survived by his younger sister, Roxanne Denise (Fields) Thomas. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, Brianna, Brandon, Diego, Laith, and Xile. His love for his grandchildren was unconditional and without measure. Left also to cherish his memory are his four nephews, three great nieces, one great nephew, a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins, plus three very special young adults he took under his wing many years ago – Brittany, Amber, and Shaynne.

After dedicating nearly 30 years to the siding business at Lupton’s Aluminum, Johnny switched careers and began working with his brother-in-law, Larry Cornwell, as a Lawn Technician for LawnMasters. Johnny loved being outside, was an extremely hard worker, and a perfectionist who took great pride in all he did.

Johnny lived his whole life in Northern Virginia. He was raised in Falls Church and was a 1979 graduate of George C. Marshall High School. Johnny enjoyed sitting on his front porch, being surrounded by his family, and was passionate about music, specifically Kid Rock and Hank Jr. Johnny impacted many people with his strong will and unique sense of humor. He was deeply loved and will be missed beyond words.
