Obituary for Joseph Linard Edmonds
Joseph Linard Edmonds (Hoop) age 81 departed this life on January 26, 2021 at Fauquier Hospital in Warrenton, VA.
Joseph is survived by his daughter, Sharyn Sharp; his mother, Evelyn Edmonds; two brothers, Roy, and Jesse; six sisters, Dorothy, Alice, Wanda, Barbara, Linda, Tina; one sister in-law, Ruby; three brothers in-law, James, Larry, Michael; three grandsons, Edmond, Trae, Malcom; two great grandchildren, Michael, Brynn, and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Edmonds, and his sister, Betty Ann.
Joseph served honorably in the United States Army for approximately 6 years. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant, responsible for developing, maintaining, and utilizing the full range of each Soldier's potential within his squad. During his service, he received the Army of Occupation (Berlin) Medal and earned the Expert in Marksmanship badge of honor, the highest-level surpassing that of marksman and sharpshooter. His experience in the Army opened the doors to education, world travel and opportunities which he avidly explored.
He spent his final years at home amid his family and adoring mother of 101 years of age who is happy for every minute she had with him.
Joseph's family will host a private service for him followed by a military burial at Culpeper National Cemetery.
