Obituary

Josephine Chichester-Wall, was born September 1, 1921 in Warrenton, Va. She was the only Daughter of Henry and Minnie Brown. She had 4 loving Brothers that did anything for her: Louis, Addison, Henry and Richard Brown.

At the age of 98, Josephine definitely lived a life full of love and adventure.

On Saturday, February 21, 2020, our Lord and Savior called on her to receive her everlasting wings, which were well deserved. She went on to join her loved ones that awaited her beyond this life. She was predeceased by her late husband Frank Wall, Charles H. Chichester, Sr. and her previously mentioned four Brothers.

Josephine worked hard at a variety of domestic jobs throughout her life and cared for others. She loved to travel, cook, dance and had quite a green thumb. She enjoyed planting flowers, fruit trees and harvesting anything that grew from the earth. She spent a number of years planting and tending to the flower beds at her beloved place of worship, First Baptist Church of Vienna. She even planted a peach seed from a peach she had eaten, on the grounds of her condo where she was blessed to witness that seed grown into a full tree producing the most delicious peaches ever. And that has taken place in the last 2 years.

One of the things she looked forward to the most, was spending time with her family at any and all occasions. Particularly holidays and most of all her birthday where she made sure she was the center of attention! And she was not shy in letting you know how old she would be on her birthday either. It was only two and a half years ago that she gave up driving. She was sharp to the very end. And her sense of humor was the best ever. Her spirit was infectious and all that knew her loved to be in her presence.

She leaves to carry on her legacy, her two loving children: Charles H. Chichester, Jr (Chill) and Connie C. Ellis. Known to all her Grandchildren as “Granny” she leaves her three Grandchildren: Sherri Walker (Bobbi), Tracy Chichester, Robert Ellis (Babe). Seven Great Grandchildren: Chantelle Roberts, DeAndre Ellis (Victoria), Tracy Chichester, James Walker (Scoot), Asia Butler (Patrick), Victoria Ellis (Fussy) and Justin Walker. Four Great-Great Grandchildren: Malik Roberts, Zoey Lucas, Lillana Chichester and Kaliyah Ellis.

Josephine also adored her six Nieces: Ann Washington, Pamela Wasyilk, Sheila Wright, Tvela Davis, Shirley Brown & Retta Brown.

In her last few weeks of life, she was cared for by her loving friend Pam Cox who loved her like family. Josephine loved and was so loved by so many of her extended family members & friends.

We will all miss this beautiful soul…with all her all her wisdom, insight intelligence & stamina, there will never be another like her. How lucky heaven must be right now….

Family will receive friends on March 2, 2020 at the First Baptist Church 450 Orchard St. NW Vienna, VA 22180, from11:00am-12:00pm. Service will follow with Dr. Vernon Walton officiating.

Interment will be at National Memorial Park 7482 Lee Highway Falls Church, VA 22042.

Charles Herbert, Connie and Family,
You are in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless you all.

Aunt Josie,
You are my heart and was like a second mother to me. I will miss our talks and laughs. Your words of love, wisdom and encouragement always uplifted me and you always made me feel better just being around you. Not only was I blessed to have you as my Aunt but blessed to have you as my friend. Now you have earned your Angel wings and reunited with loved ones passed, making them laugh and smile and feel the love you gave to everyone. There will never be another like you and I miss and love you forever! Rest in Heaven,

Love, your niece,
Retta

I am so sorry to hear she is gone. She was always so nice to me except once when I tattled on her about forgetting the water was running in the sink. She didn't stay mad long. She let me in out of the rain when I locked my keys in my car with the engine running and let me call for help. She let me sit in her car to wait for someone to unlock my door and came out in the rain with her coat over her robe and curlers in her hair to deliver a message that someone was coming. The call came back on her number. I was sure grateful she missed church that day. She would always decline when offered help even if she needed it. One day I was outside and Ms Wall had gone to the store. I knew she couldn't get her groceries up the steps. Well, this handsome young man came bounding down the hill behind us, took her cart full of groceries in one hand and carried them up to her door. I teased her that she turned me down for someone better looking. She was the perfect damsel in distress. All the neighbors liked her. I was just speaking with Ms Wall and her granddaughter a month ago tomorrow. It is hard to believe. We will all miss her. God bless.
