Deepest condolences to Dan, Anne, and the rest of Kirsten's family. Kirsten and I met at VA Tech, and were roomies for two years. We became friends very quickly, and were thick as thieves...we watched Miami Vice every Friday night, partied with folks on the quad and beyond, and yes, we studied...ok she was much better than I at that. We faced difficult hall-mates together, entered the door decorating contest (and our Eddie Murphy- "I Want To Party All The Time" themed door should have won), and she even joined my family at the beach one summer. Her sweet, giving nature and easy laughter made her quickly become one of the bunch (my mom really liked her...and remembered her fondly years later - Kirsten had that kind of impact on people). We drifted apart over time, pursuing different interests and exchanging Christmas cards, but finally reconnected before I moved to Alaska. When we met for lunch, the years melted away, and it felt like we'd never disconnected - she was just as sweet and funny as always, and a joy to be with again. She will be incredibly missed.
