Condolence: Deepest condolences to Dan, Anne, and the rest of Kirsten's family.

Kirsten and I met at VA Tech, and were roomies for two years. We became friends very quickly, and were thick as thieves...we watched Miami Vice every Friday night, partied with folks on the quad and beyond, and yes, we studied...ok she was much better than I at that. We faced difficult hall-mates together, entered the door decorating contest (and our Eddie Murphy- "I Want To Party All The Time" themed door should have won), and she even joined my family at the beach one summer. Her sweet, giving nature and easy laughter made her quickly become one of the bunch (my mom really liked her...and remembered her fondly years later - Kirsten had that kind of impact on people).

We drifted apart over time, pursuing different interests and exchanging Christmas cards, but finally reconnected before I moved to Alaska. When we met for lunch, the years melted away, and it felt like we'd never disconnected - she was just as sweet and funny as always, and a joy to be with again. She will be incredibly missed.

Condolence: This hit me hard, as I’m sure it did all of you. When I think of Kirsten I think of the sweet, quiet girl that I met in high school (way back when). The girl that was kind to everyone, who would shine a smile when you needed one, and who was someone that you could always depend on.

Fast forward a couple of decades and Kirsten still seemed to be at the heart of some project to make things better, or memorable, for others. I had the pleasure of working closely with her to organize part of our 20 year class reunion. We spent hours together afterwards collecting and organizing wonderful memories from the weekend of gatherings - which she played a key role in planning. While our kids played, we reminisced, looked through photos and videos, and – with Dan’s gracious help - created a montage of memories so everyone would have something special to remind them of the amazing weekend and of the friends who love them. That was Kirsten, always looking out for others, fiercely protective of family and friends, and one who took great joy and went to great lengths to make things extra special for those whom she cared about.

Dan, Anne, and to all who love Kirsten, I pray that God will comfort, protect, and strengthen you with His love and His Grace. Take comfort in knowing that she is basking in the glow of God’s eternal love and glory… and that means we’ll see her again.

Condolence: We are so fortunate to have known Kirsten as she became the mother-in-law to our son Nathan. She and I (Trilby) shared the same path in college (biology, then psychology) and a love for birds and flowers. We will miss seeing her and are praying for comfort and peace for Dan, Anne, Nathan, and all of her family. Much love to you all.

Condolence: My sincerest condolences to Kirsten's family. Kirsten was loving and kind in every way. On the first day of 9th grade, Kirsten and I showed up at the same locker in the hallway across from Mr. K's classroom. They had assigned us the same locker to share and as a 14-year-old there was no way a girl and boy could possibly share the same locker!!! For many years after we would laugh about that school mix-up. While saddened by this loss, I will always have that memory to make me smile.

Condolence: Kirsten was the glue that helped hold our extended family together. Without her, we wouldn't have had countless joyful family reunions year after year. She was the best organizer to make sure we could get together and see one another each year. Most of all, she was so good at making everyone involved feel loved and included. She took the time to catch up and truly invest her time and attention into the conversation, making you feel loved.

Condolence: Oh goodness, this makes my heart so heavy. Kirsten was my very best friend in high school and as most of us do, we went our separate ways..off to college…and then on with our lives. I saw Kirsten about 15 years ago and I remember feeling as though only a day had passed between our visits and not a decade or so. Anne was young …as was my son… and even as young mothers we were just as giddy as ever, that afternoon. She was the BEST high school friend I could have hoped for! She was loyal and funny and smart and kind…and mischievous! We pulled practical jokes, left anonymous notes, had secret codes and nicknames for folks—she was just so much fun to be around. She and I had some really funny inside jokes (she had a wicked sense of humor) and if I try, I can hear her giggle right now—her cheeks turning bright red and her eyes watering with our laughter.

I’ll remember you this way, dear friend, and think of you at peace now.

Condolence: We have loved you the three of you dearly and know that any time we saw you we could pick up where we left off! Kirsten's passing leaves a hole in our hearts that only her beauty could fill. Kirsten and I had many beautiful and fun walks in her garden and I learned so much from her about all the plants she had growing. A cup of tea and home baked goodies always awaited us after our outdoors adventure! We enjoyed sharing pictures of our flowers as they were blooming in our gardens.

Matt, Ryan and I treasured our times together over a good meal, talking and games! After we moved to Colorado in 2010, we loved every minute we spent together when we traveled to see one another. You made us feel so loved when you traveled all the way across the country to visit us in Colorado! We have such fond memories of visiting Pikes Peak, Estes Park and Colorado Springs together.
