Obituary for Larry Joe Gates
Larry Joe Gates, 68, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2019 at Inova Fairfax Hospital.
He was born on December 9, 1950 to the late Howard C. and Lucille Moss Gates.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Deborah C. Gates; one son, Joey Gates and his brother Don Gates.
Larry is survived by his son, Christian Gates, adopted daughter, Brittany Spindle; 9 grandchildren, Heather Obregon, Tiffany Hall, Alexander Gates, Bryon Gates, Jordan Gates, Brookelyn Gates, Alexis Gates, Danielle Spindle and Joseph P. Gates. Also surviving are 5 great-grandchildren and his postal girls, Paulette Pearson Washington and Buffy Christensen.
Larry enjoyed spending time with his family and it always put a smile on his face to be around them. He could always bring you joy, but also knew how to put you in your place. He could always give you a perspective. He was full of life and lived it to the fullest.
He will dearly missed by his family and friends.
The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas, Virginia. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Interment will be private and at a later date.
