Hello, families, and friends
I’m sorry that I couldn’t be able to attend to the funeral home. I’d like to speak in the honor of Lawrence David Kent I had a great and good buddy friend of him since 1983. He was a tutor to me for the computer programmer course at Gallaudet University. I looked at him so very clarity explanation that I learned a lot from him. After we had a lot of common sense for many years. Larry always advised me a small hint many things. I sometimes advised him too. He was very freak/fan out of the Washington Redskins, he asked me to go to Redskins Stadium in Landover, Maryland for 8 games and already had some tickets. Just me and Larry, I was excited to go there that Redskins is a huge stadium I looked up it was so depth up the stairs to find the seat behind the Box Club, I was worried about his ability to walk up the stairs. Whew, He never happened to fell down. I asked him it was very cold in lately November, Larry said don’t worry that we had a good enough warm (heat) behind the box club. I went there that he was right to be perfect seats there. We had a great time to watch football games for two years.
After 1999, we both lost our job, I decided to move back to Beckley, WV, Larry was willing to help me with my many stuffs put in his truck. He didn’t mind looking the country mountain where I lived and grew up there. I followed him to fill gas up and he shake up the gas pump, I asked him what he was doing he said if it was still gas inside the hose. Larry likes to be joking with me. Anyway, he followed me to my home in getting out of DC area but I lost him too many heavy traffic on the 6 lanes highway, and couldn’t even find him in hours. I gave up and went home then I called him TTY at night that he got lost too! He wanted to come there to give my stuff things because I didn’t have any clothes. He loved it here a beautiful wild wonderful heaven mountain of southern West Virginia and stayed here for couple days. He was so inspired feeling. He wanted to move someday in eastern panhandles of West Virginia.
After one year later, I got a job at IT computer at college and then later Larry informed me to grab getting job for Sorenson, or CSD or other. I’m still working Sorenson Trainer for 17 years, and enjoying helping deaf customers and deaf communities
He sometimes visited me and wanted to be good times tour. By the way, I asked him to come to fancy Greenbrier Hotel in White Sulphur Spring, he shocked me that he thinks I was crazy I told him it was very special rate 79.00 in March instead of 400.00 and wanted to meet my girlfriend Cindy. ( this was before I married her) He decided to take on Amtrak just walking or shuttle less than minutes, Larry said that he can’t touch his feet on the floor because he sat on high queen bed. He was funny. It was very comfortable soft bed, and tours a huge hotel, many events, President bunker and other. I came to see him and his sister Kay once time every years .
I invited him to come to my wedding in Myrtle Beach, SC and happy cheerful for us, and enjoyed his entirely whole day.
I love telling you, friends, and his families that he was greatly experienced memory life and always wanted to help deaf communities, church, always being respected of the deaf community that he wanted to do something else, he didn’t need to worry about his old job in past time and wanted to be happy spirit of enjoyable life. He was very comedy, humbled and always smiling. I asked him several times how he felt, and always said “fine”. I believe that he didn’t want to tell you to keep his full of life and didn’t want to tell you to worry about him. He didn’t like to see sad, he wanted spirit, comedy person and more positive things. He knew that it is running out of time up for him. Larry, I want to thank you helping for me however, deaf communities, friends and workers want to thank Larry anything for us! We will be missed him a lot, always love him God Blessing him, Jesus is taking care of him!!!
Love,
John Keith and Cindy
