Linda Gayle Arendall Womack, 77, of Manassas, Virginia went to be with the Lord Thursday, January 28, 2021. Linda was born on September 4, 1943 in Lynchburg Virginia, the daughter of the late Raleigh Thomas Arendall and Ruby Thelma Pickeral Arendall of Halifax Co, Virginia.
Linda was a devoted wife for 58 years to her late husband Garnett McGuire Womack. They moved to the City of Manassas in 1966 from Halifax Co, VA with their daughters Kimberly Saphonchak and Annette Womack. Her husband was a land surveyor and Linda assisted him in his business as well as working for Blue Cross. Linda loved flowers, decorative crafts and opened Old Town Creations in downtown City of Manassas in the 1980’s. She began her career as the City of Manassas Voter Registrar in 1990 and retired after 24 years of service. During her career she worked over 54 elections, including 6 Presidential elections as well as numerous primary and local elections. Additionally, she earned a degree in Certified Professional General Registrar from the University of Virgina 1994. Moreover, she was a Notary republic for the state of Virgina for 25 years. Thus helped enacting the voting law known as the “National Registration Act”, “The Help America Vote Act”, as well as the “Uniform and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act”. In addition, while working at Manassas City she made the flowers for the lobby of the building for 24 years and additionally was the head of the committee to refurbish Manassas’s City Hall lobby. As well as a long standing member of the Manassas Baptist Church she was the head of the flower Committee in the church. Furthermore, she pioneered the rescue of the Caboose Restoration Committee, and due to her many years of community service won the key to the city in 1998. Her dedication to the Manassas City Christmas Parade Committee spanned over 4 decades and thus led to her becoming the Women of the Year in 2009. On top of that, the 75th Annual Christmas Parade was named with her assistance and will be themed in her honor in December 2021 “Right Down Santa Claus Lane.” Additionally, she volunteered her services to several organizations the Beatification Committee of the City of Manassas, Manassas Parks and Recreations Committee, Garden Club, DAR, Soroptimist International, Junior Woman’s Club and the Women’s Club, and was the President of the Junior Woman’s Club in the 1976, President of Woman’s Club in 1984 and President of Historic Manassas Incorporated in 1996. During the mid 1990’s she spearheaded a team with the Woman’s Club to restore the Nativity Scene in Nelson Park and continued to oversee the committee to show the Christmas display annually.

Linda loved spending time with her family and especially hosting Thanksgiving for 48 years. She loved her Children dearly Kim Saphonchak and Annette Womack; and adored her Grandchildren Jo Gayle Guthrie, Daniel Ross Kirby, and Nicholas Albin Saphonchak; her Mother in Law Catherine Womack (103); Sister Rose Marie Arendall Hunter, Brothers, Buddy Thomas Arendall, Dennis Michael Arendall and the late James Herbert Arendall, and her entire family.

The family appreciates all the Medical Staff at Prince William Hospital ICU Covid-19 wing for all their loving care of Linda during her lengthy medical challenge and allowing the family virtual zoom calls to see and talk to Linda. We can never repay the kindness of her Nurse Practitioner Gayla Caudwelo. Our family loved, admired and are so proud of the amazing woman Linda Gayle became.
