Obituary for Marcel Rene Zamora

Marcel Rene Zamora was born on July 11, 1967 to Elena Caceres Zamora and Rene Zamora at Barros Luco Hospital in Santiago, Chile. The family immigrated to the United States in 1977. Marcel proudly became a U.S. citizen in 1986.

Marcel was a graduate of J.E.B. Stuart High School and George Mason University. Marcel and Elaine Lee, also a graduate of J.E.B. Stuart High School, married in October 1997. He was a loving husband and father to their son, Daniel Zamora, 13, and a wonderful son, brother, and friend to everybody who met him.

Marcel served in the U.S. Air Force and was discharged honorably in 1990. Marcel made a career in the home building industry. He worked as a carpenter and a project supervisor and performed nearly every job in between. He was last employed by Van Metre Homes. Marcel was an incredibly hard worker and took a lot of pride in a job well done. A true handyman who was always eager to help his family, friends, and neighbors.

He was a huge soccer fan. Marcel played in adult soccer leagues in Prince William County until he couldn’t play anymore. He was also a recreational soccer coach at PWSI. He loved coaching kids. Marcel loved his dog, Harry. His beloved dogs Stuart and Colby will likely be the first to greet him at the pearly gates. Marcel enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was quick with a smile and a helping hand.

Marcel is survived by his wife Elaine and son Daniel. He is also survived by his parents, Rene and Elena, two brothers, Jaime Rafael Zamora and his wife Maggie Zamora, and their children Alicia and Ethan; and Hector Elias Zamora and his wife Collette Zamora, and their children Cristian, Connor, and Catalina. Marcel had wonderful in-laws and was very much a part of the Lee family with many cousins and nephews.

Marcel will be forever missed by his family.

There will be a funeral service on Friday, January 24th, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 12975 Purcell Road, Manassas, Virginia 20112.
