Obituary for Margaret Spencer "Maggie" Smith

Margaret “Maggie” Spencer Smith of Gainesville, VA (born September 6th 1999) passed away unexpectedly November 4th 2018 at Fairfax Hospital in the company of friends and family.

Maggie was a beacon of energy, positivity, and song in every room she entered, and her absence will be felt from her school to church to neighborhood to every store she frequented and friend she made. A master of jigsaw puzzles, avid YouTube video watcher, and “High School Musical” sing-along fan, Maggie could eat spicy Mexican options for breakfast, lunch and dinner if given half a chance. Sometimes in scattered moments discussing food preferences, she would mistakenly tell friends or wait-staff of her “laptop intolerance.”

She will be sorely missed by her entire family: her mother Eileen Felling Smith, sister Addison and brother Andrew; her father Gregory Harris Smith and his wife Michelle Smith; her maternal grandmother Kathryn Anne Felling and her husband Randy Robey; her paternal grandmother Ann Smith; her uncle Bradley Felling; her aunt and uncle Christy and Matthew Felling; her aunt and uncle Sarah and Eric Smith, Junior; and her cousins Lara, Max, Leighton and Aubrey.

Her life will be celebrated at a viewing on Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. at Baker-Post Funeral Home, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas, Virginia. A funeral mass will take place at All Saints Catholic Church , 9300 Stonewall Road, Manassas, Virginia on Friday, November 9, 2018, beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Immediately following mass, there will be a luncheon at the Virginia Oaks Clubhouse, 7950 Virginia Oaks Drive, Gainesville, Virginia.

Interment will be private and at Stonewall Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Maggie to the Down Syndrome Association of Northern Virginia (https://www.dsanv.org/).
