Mary A. Fedyszen, formerly of Athlone, Ireland, Massapequa, New York, Vero Beach, Florida, and Gainesville, Virginia, passed away on October 15, 2022. She was the beloved wife of the late Peter A. Fedyszen (1927-2019).

She graduated from Seton Area School of Nursing-Walton Hospital, Liverpool, England.

During Mary’s twenty-year nursing career, she was a Registered Nurse at Walton Hospital, England, Hempstead General Hospital, New York and a Charge Nurse at A. Holly Patterson Nursing Home, New York. She was described by her children as having a gift for serving others. Mary was known to treat her patients with dignity, respect, and true compassion.

Survivors include her daughters Denise Powers (Jeff), Anne Fedyszen (Jim Black) and her sons Peter J. Fedyszen (Michelle) and Joseph Fedyszen and four grandchildren (Ryan, Brendan, Nicholas, and Katherine). She is also survived by her brother Robert O’Connell (Jo) and her sister Ann Colleran.

A mass to honor her life will be held on Monday, October 31, 2022, 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 8213 Linton Hall Road, Gainesville, Virginia.

Interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery.
